Nicholas Lalor

Professional Membership

Nicholas Lalor is a Chartered Physiotherapist with over 20 years of experience. He is CORU registered and a member of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.

Education

Nicholas graduated from St. George's University of London with an honours degree in Physiotherapy, completing clinical placements in NHS teaching hospitals including St. Mary's Paddington and Queen Mary's Roehampton. He completed a paediatrics placement through the University of the Witwatersrand at Johannesburg General Hospital in 2005.

In 2007, he completed a Certificate in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at Curtin University in Western Australia before completing a master's degree in Sports Physiotherapy at the University of Queensland, Brisbane.

Professional Experience

On graduating from the University of London, Nicholas spent five years working full-time with the HSE in Early Intervention, specialising in paediatric disability. He began working part-time in private practice in 2007, gaining extensive experience at Physio4U in Galway and Dynamic Physiotherapy in Dublin, before establishing HQphysio Birr in 2013.

Sports

Nicholas has been working within the IRFU pathway since 2015, including a combined ten years as national physiotherapist for the Irish U20s (4 years) and Irish U19s (6 years). He has also worked with the Irish 7s, covering various legs of the World and European 7s Series. Since 2005, he has worked with numerous high-profile sporting organisations and teams, including Charlton Athletic, Tullamore RFC, Leinster Rugby U19s, Offaly Camogie, the Galway and Offaly Senior Hurling teams, the Brisbane Lions, and Trinity College Dublin. He has also lectured in the Department of Lifelong Learning at TUS.

Interests

A keen sportsman, Nicholas has completed Ironman France and cycled from Mizen to Malin with the TherapyHub.ie team, helping to raise over €10,000 for Cycle Against Suicide. He has also completed a north-to-south, coast-to-coast cycle through Spain, from Getxo to Tarifa.

On the pitch, Nicholas has won junior, intermediate, and senior county championships in hurling. In football, he was part of the Cork City squad that won the FAI Youth Cup in 2000, before spending two years full-time in the FAI Academy.

Outside of sports, he has performed stand-up comedy, once winning "Best Act of the Night" at the Battle of the Axe Comedy Club at Dublin's historic Ha'penny Bridge Inn.
